Ocean View Campsites - Small, Rustic Camping Site 30km west of Kenton on Sea, situated on a working dairy farm with magnificent ocean views

Ocean View Camp sites are situated along the Woody Cape beaches of the Sunshine Coast. This seaboard forms part of the marine reserve of the Addo Elephant National Park.

These camp sites have been in existence for 20 years and originate from the many requests by the public to camp near the sea. 3 sites were carved into the coastal bush - and a 4th added recently on site with sea views.

The sites each accommodate up to 3 tents comfortably - with an emphasis on privacy.

The facilities, while simple, cater for all camping requirements and each site is independent. The camp sites are suited to energetically minded individuals looking for adventure - as well as for the “layed” back experience.

A timber boardwalk eases the access down to the dunes and onto the beach - with waves a few hundred meters further.

Guests are able to appreciate the many kilometers of unspoilt, attractive beaches - all to themselves. These waters are the annual breeding grounds of the Southern Right Whale and consequently regular seasonal sightings and frequent viewings of dolphins are the norm.

OCEAN VIEW CAMPSITE NEAR ALEXANDRIA

  • 4 terraced sites with shade that can accommodate 2-3 tents each
  • Sites situated in the coastal bush, independent of each other - each with their own facilities
  • The surrounding bush offers good protection in the event of wind
  • Each site has a standard POWER POINT and light
  • NO CELL PHONE RECEPTION

Bring Along

  • An extension cable and additional portable light
  • A portable table and chairs
  • Bottled water - the underground water quality is good, but you may prefer to bring your own
  • Firewood
  • Braai utensils

SPECIAL RULES

Since this area is a marine protected reserve under the control of the Addo Elephant Park, SAN parks regulations need to be respected. SAN parks rangers do patrol the beach and have a zero tolerance for dogs on the beach. Any breach of this rule will jeopardise the agreement I have with SAN parks regarding uninterrupted beach access for patrons of the campsites onto the marine reserve of the Addo Elephant National Park. NO DOGS are permitted on the beach!

NO LIFEGUARDS! Dangerous currents occur along this coast line and consequently caution must be exercised when swimming - it is strongly advised not to venture beyond waist depth.

Fishing is permitted and standard rules apply.

As there is always a risk of outdoor fires - please only use the braai areas for any form of fires.

Please dont feed the monkeys!

Accessability

Access via a gravel road that at times can be muddy and slippery and caution is advised when conditions are wet. The old conventional large caravans are not advised due to the sloping nature of the terrain.

The sites were originally designed for free standing tents - roof top tents also fit comfortably. As a result of the terracing on the sites, camper trailers with side tents do fit, however, with only a little room to spare in the width of the terrace.

The farm has an automated gate access point with an entry code - the gate remains open during work hours - any visitors arriving after hours will need a code to enable entry and exit - this will be given when a booking is confirmed.

PLEASE NOTE

The camp sites are part of a working dairy farm, so we request that visitors are tolerant of livestock and farming activities - muddy roads, farm gates and cow manure will add to the experience!

ACTIVITIES ALONG THE WOODY CAPE COAST

Swimming, surf fishing (rock angling within 4kms walk), many miles of deserted beaches for hiking (8km west is the well-known Woody Cape dune fields, which are the 2nd largest shifting dune fields in the Southern hemisphere & the location of many an advertorial requiring a “desert” landscape), and gravel roads for mountain biking.

With a mix of beach, bush and veld, we have good birding and are host to many summer migrants. The nearby Alexandria Forest (under the control of Sanparks) with its established hiking trails is well worth a visit (this comes at a day fee charged at the SAN parks office in the forest).

As the sites are part of a functional dairy farm, guests are welcome to view the “activities” and children get much enjoyment interacting with young calves or may even witness the birth of baby calves.
